Anticipation is the key to success.
True to our mission, we have spent the year analysing underlying market dynamics to deliver high‑level strategic intelligence.
We are pleased to share today the outcome of this work: the seven major trends we believe will be essential in guiding your strategic thinking for 2026.
We wish you an insightful read and hope these perspectives will inspire your future developments.
2026 : Key emerging trends
Precision fermentation
A true revolution for the food industry, precision fermentation leverages advanced biotechnology to produce a wide range of highly specific functional ingredients, including dairy proteins such as lactoferrin—without any animal origin [1].
The global precision fermentation market generated over $4 billion in 2025 and is expected to exceed $6 billion in 2026 [2].
Armor Protéines has partnered with All-G, a company specializing in production precision fermentation technology. We are proud to embrace this cutting-edge technology, offering new and efficient source of Lactoferrin (Bovine and Human) to the global market.

GLP-1 Hormone: A new ally in the fight against obesity and diabetes
On 1 December 2025, WHO released global guidelines on the use of medicines capable of replicating the action of GLP‑1, a hormone involved in insulin secretion and satiety regulation [3].
Considered a breakthrough in the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes [4], GLP‑1 analogues (Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus, etc.) will undoubtedly remain a major topic in 2026 and are already reshaping users’ dietary behaviours. Health impacts are emerging as well, particularly loss of muscle mass and musculoskeletal issues. Some dairy products are even specifically formulated to support the nutritional needs of GLP‑1 analogue users [5].
Moreover, certain dairy proteins can naturally stimulate GLP‑1 secretion. This is particularly the case for whey proteins such as Protarmor80 and their hydrolysates [6].

Active nutrition
The pursuit of healthier nutrition—with less sugar, more protein and functional ingredients—continues to strengthen as a long-term trend.
Consumption of high‑protein snacks, especially those rich in branched‑chain amino acids (BCAAs), keeps rising. Three out of five consumers report including more protein in their diet [7].
Weight‑management products represent a strong opportunity: the protein powder market, valued at USD 15 billion in 2025, is expected to grow at a CAGR of 7% between 2025 and 2033, reaching nearly USD 28 billion by 2033 [8].

Digestive health
Digestive health is gaining momentum, with a market projected to reach USD 270 billion by 2034 [9], driven by a global shift toward holistic well‑being and the balance between body and mind. Key pillars include balanced nutrition, hydration, probiotics and fermented dairy products such as kefir.
Calcium also contributes to digestive health [10], while supporting dental health and bone development. Vitalarmor® Ca M10, derived from dairy calcium precipitation, is an example of an ingredient meeting these multifaceted needs.

Texturizing ingredients
New solutions designed to enhance texture continue to emerge. Armor Protéines offers several whey protein concentrates with strong gelling properties. The Oragel® range can be used in cheese, fresh dairy products, processed meats and vegetarian applications to improve texture and optimise production costs.

Women's health: ArmorFerrin® lactoferrin
For far too long, women’s health has been reduced to maternity and fertility. Fortunately, this paradigm is shifting, with new products emerging to support women’s needs across all life stages.
Lactoferrin is recognised as an alternative to ferrous sulfate for women affected by iron‑deficiency anemia (pregnancy, heavy menstruation, perimenopause, etc.) [11]. This glycoprotein is also a bioactive component of the cervicovaginal mucosa and can inhibit microbial adhesion [12].

Mental health and Nutrition
Since the Covid era, mental well‑being has become not only a priority but a societal challenge — one that is increasingly reflected in consumer food choices. Consumers are turning toward healthier products that support physical health, stress management and psychological balance.
Scientific research is also exploring links between diet and mental health. Recent studies highlight the potential benefits of certain foods — particularly fermented foods — in reducing depressive symptoms through the gut‑brain axis [13].

We wish you a new year filled with success and innovation, and we look forward to shaping tomorrow’s trends together!
