Little known among the general public, lactoferrin is one of the proteins found in the milk of mammals. More precisely, it is the second most abundant serum protein in human milk (≈1 to 2 g/L). This glycoprotein belongs to the transferrin family and is naturally present in our bodies. In particular, it is found in external secretions such as saliva and tears.
